Grocery Lists

Critical Question: How do you make smooth transitions and create an even flow in writing?
Task: Students will be able to identify the "broken record" or the "grocery list" in a sample of writing and apply previous writing strategies to improve these samples.
BROKEN RECORD: When each sentence begins the same way.
example: He had long black hair. He had a orange shirt. He had dark, bushy eyebrows.
GROCERY LIST: When the writer lists all the attributes in a single sentence, rather than describing each detail in a separate, well constructed sentence.
example: The old dog was brown, scruffy, dirty, mean, slow, and snarly.
