Types of Nouns

 

Critical Question: How do you classify the different types of nouns?

Common Nouns: refer to persons, places and things
example: lake, school, desk, teacher

Proper Nouns: refer to a specific person, place or thing, it gives them a name
example: Canton Lake, CLC Charter School, Amanda

Singular Possessive Nouns: a noun that shows ownership (add 's)

example:
the tent's poles
the dog's toys
the bird's wings

Plural Possessive Nouns: a group of nouns that shows ownership (add s')

example:
the flowers' petals
the students' desks
the boats' sails
