Critical Question: How can I use sentence variety in my writing?
Task: The students will practice writing the same sentence in a variety of ways. They will be able to change the subject in their writing to create more interesting sentences.
In order for your writing to be interesting, you must use sentence variety. That means that each sentence should begin differently.
1. Start your sentence with the subject.
He had straggly hair.
Revision: Long,dark, straggly hair framed the stranger's face.
2. Add some interesting adjectives or verbs.
There was a chair in the corner of the room.
Revision: A fluffy, soft chair sat nestled in the corner of the room.
