About the story |
As a fifteen year old in 1777, Jake Mallery is a typical teenager, he tries to best his friends in competitions, thinks his father is a tyrant and is aware that his country is at war, but doesn’t think it will ever really interrupt his life. Things remain the same for Jake until July 4th of 1779, that’s when war comes to his small Connecticut town and Jake is catapulted into a world he never imagined. Loading a weapon and firing at men, trying to out maneuver and out smart the enemy and dealing with the horrific conditions as a prisoner of war. Will Jake have the courage and resolve to survive his imprisonment and make his way home to his family. |
