About the story |
When Jacob was younger his grandfather loved to tell him stories of his childhood spent in a home for displaced children on a small island in England during WWII. The stories were very interesting, but hard for anyone to believe. When Jacob was 16 and struggling to find himself he finds his grandfather, minutes from death, in the woods near his house. His last words to Jacob were “Go to the island, you’ll be safe there…Find the bird. In the loop…September third, 1940”. A very cryptic message, but in order to deal with the death, maybe Jacob needs to go to the island to find some answers. Will he discover that his grandfather was really as delusional as his family feared, or were the stories he’d heard as a child really believable after all? |
My opinion |
Wow! Although this book is getting mixed reviews I thought it was a great story that lived up to it’s title. They are definitely peculiar children. |
