Thursday,
February 24, at 7:00 p.m. Please join us for this community meeting. You are also welcome to stay for the school board meeting at 8:00 p.m. |
It's almost that time again. Beginning the week after Spring Break, each team will move on to their next project. Team 1 will move on to "Geography" with Glenn and Theresa, Team 2 will change to "The Human Body" with Josephine and Diane, and Team 3 will switch to "The Legislative Process" with Mark and Brian. |

Yes, all the rumors you have heard are true! Mark has successfully defended his dissertation and will officially receive his Ph.D. in May. Congratulations, Dr. Mark! (Or as his students affectionately call him, Dr. Tigger!) |
You have probably noticed by now that the CLC web site looks different. Brian has redesigned the site in order to make it more user friendly. Please check it out on a regular basis. One of the new aspects of the site is an "Announcements" section on the front page. I will use this space to keep you updated on important information in between newsletters. Thank you, Brian, for your creative energy and time put into improving our web site. |

Many of you have expressed interest in the after school music lessons for your child. However, you have also expressed much concern about the cost of the lessons. Mr. Flarkey is very eager to have students begin playing and has modified the cost of the lessons to make them more affordable. Enclosed you will find a letter from Frank along with a registration form. If you are interested in individual or group lessons for your child, please return the form to the office as soon as possible. Frank will also be attending the parent meeting this week to answer any questions you might have. |
Please make sure you check with your child EVERY FRIDAY to see if any "mail" has been sent home for you. Start making this a weekly habit. I feel this is the most efficient way to get information out to you, especially forms that need to be filled out and returned. If your child has brought home a form to be filled out, please do so promptly and have your child return it to scool in the original envelope. Also, make it a habit to check the new CLC home page regularly for announcements. |

Another reminder - school begins at 8:15 a.m. every day. That means that Mark and Josephine and Glenn start teaching at 8:15. Your child should already be here and prepared to begin by that point. Please make an effort to have your child here no later than 8:10 a.m. ![]() |
An interesting event took place last week at CLC. On Thursday afternoon, a college aged male walked into the school and confessed to Josephine and M.J. that he was the individual responsible for the robbery at our school several weeks ago. Hmmm. Needless to say, we were shocked and speechless. It turns out the police were about to arrest him, and he wanted to come in to apologize for what he had done. At this point, we believe the police have, indeed, made the arrest and have recovered most of the equipment that was stolen. We'll keep you updated on further developments. |

If you haven't stopped into the "big room" in the new building lately, you're in for a pleasant surprise. The Art Club, with the help of Dr. Wendy, has been working very hard for the past several weeks to beautify the walls. Gone are the big ugly glue patches that once dotted the walls. They have been replaced by creative, imaginative paintings designed by the students! Stop in and check it out. |
Please return the after school parent survey that was sent home with your child in the "mail" on Friday, February 11. We are trying to evaluate the current program to make sure it is meeting the needs and interests of the community and would appreciate your input. |

CLC has purchased 6 new microscopes for the classrooms. Students working with Josephine on the human body project this semester will spend some time using them to view prepared slides of such things as human blood, skin, and bones, as well as slides they will make themselves. After this project, two microscopes will be placed in each classroom for general use. |
Spring
BreakJust a reminder that we will be closed for Spring Break from March 6 through March 10. If you plan to have your child stay for after school on Friday, March 3, please make an effort to pick him/her up as early as possible. Brian will be leaving for break on Thursday, so we will have a substitute for after school on Friday. |

Tiffany Goss has recently joined our community as a member of Team 3. She has transferred from the 5th grade at Port Matilda Elementary. Welcome to Tiffany and her parents, Lori and John Goss. |
Although it's fun to welcome new students, it also means we must be saying goodbye to someone. Lisa Latash will be moving to Maryland to live with her mother. We will miss Lisa and wish her luck at her new school. |

Not rain, nor snow, nor dark of night?...Okay, so he's not a mailman, but he has proven that there's not much that could keep him down for long. Kyle is healing quickly after his knee surgery and has been back in the office for a couple of weeks now. (Not that being stuck at home has kept him from doing work!) I am especially glad to have him mobile and back at school. Welcome back, Kyle! |
There are a number of parents who do not have email addresses. This is very important for communication to occur between families and CLC. Please let M.J. know if you need help getting internet access or if there is another problem that we could help you with. It is our commitment to have this open line of communication within the community. |
