Charter Renewal Hearings
We participated in our first charter renewal hearing with the Bald Eagle School District on October 30. The hearing went well and the acting superintendent has recommended to the Bald Eagle Board of Directors that our charter be renewed. Thank you to those of you in the Bald Eagle School District who wrote letters of support and/or attended the hearing. The State College School District hearing will be Monday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the High School South auditorium. The Bellefonte hearing has been rescheduled* for Tuesday, November 21* at 7:30 p.m. in the Bellefonte Elementary School. Families in these districts are especially encouraged to attend these meetings.

8th Grade Fundraising
The 8th graders are raising money for an 8th grade class trip by selling pizza every Friday and by running the new CLC Store which will sell food items and school supplies. Information about the pizza and the order forms were sent home in last Friday's mail folders. If you would like more information please go to the Friday Pizza web site at http://clccharter.org/~naterr/pizzapage. For the CLC Store, each student will be able to set up an account in which they can put money for purchases made at the store. More information about the store and how to set up an account are in today's mail folder.

Rocket Launch
This Saturday, November 4, the CLC Rocket Club will be holding its 3rd Annual Fall Launch! Any and all are welcome to join us at the soccer fields at Mt. Nittany Middle School at 10 am. We will be launching until noon (or until our engine or rocket supply is exhausted!). Rocket Club members should bring their engines to the launch. Glenn will have a few extras for use! Parents should bring a lawn chair to watch the fun! (Not that the lawn chair will enjoy it that much, but at least you'll be comfortable! Wow, I've been hanging out with Glenn too much).

November Parent/Board Meeting
This month's Parent Meeting will be held one week earlier than usual onThursday, November 16, at 7:00 p.m. in Mark's classroom. The focus of the meeting will be a discussion of the CLC math program. Our monthly Board Meeting will immediately follow at 8:30 p.m. All community members are invited and encouraged to attend both of these meetings.

Thanksgiving Vacation
A reminder that there is no school from Thursday, Nov. 23 through Monday, Nov. 28. Enjoy the holiday break!

Project #2 Transition Week and Exhibition Day
We are at the end of week #2 of the 2nd set of projects. Each project runs for 5 weeks. Week #6 is Transition Week when the students share and present their work to each other and their parents. The official exhibition day for this project is Wednesday, November 29. Please come to school between 9:30 a.m. and noon that day and check out the results of 5 weeks of hard work! The third round of projects will begin on Monday, December 4.

Teacher Appreciation Lunch
We all know that CLC has the best teachers in the district(s). One way we show our appreciation for their work is by feeding them. On the first Friday of each month, parent volunteers prepare entrees, a salad, bread and dessert for our faculty and staff. The table is set with linen and china, and everyone enjoys a relaxing meal.
Our September luncheon was generously catered by Cyle Hacker's family (team 3), owners of Duffy's Tavern. Thanks also to our October cooks, Tom Ryan (Nater, team 2), Vonda Yoder (Kyle, team 3), and Sue Egolf (Michael, team 2). We are always looking for new cooks and could also use one more person to help with making phone calls and setting things up. If you'd like to volunteer, please call Liz Kisenwether (231-4095, lxk13@psu.edu) or Annie Lesieutre (237-3672, ajl@kirkof.meche.psu.edu). Our next lunch will be December 1st. (We've changed to the first Friday of the month to avoid directly following parent meetings.)

A HUGE Thank You
As a staff, we are very aware that we have an incredibly supportive community of parents at CLC. We just want to let you know how much we appreciate the monthly lunches, the volunteer hours, the words of encouragement, and everything else you do to show your support. You are very much a part of the success of our school. Thank you!

Friday "Mail" Folders / Web Site "Announcements"
Just a reminder to please, please, please ask your child for their Friday "mail" folder every week. This folder is one of our main methods of communicating with you. There are often papers included in the folder that need to be signed and returned to school on Monday. Also, our web site has "announcements" posted that are updated on a regular basis. Please get into the habit of checking our site often for new information.

CLC Parking Lot
Within the next month, our landlord will be painting lines in the parking lot behind the white classroom building. Officially, CLC only has half of the spaces (11) in the lot (the Massage School has the other 11). That poses a problem since we have 11 full-time employees plus Brian, Diane, our Special's teachers on Thursdays, and various other visitors who need a place to park. So, we are asking parents to park on the street whenever possible (along Burrowes or Fraser is best), or, if you need to pull into the lot to quickly run in and out of the school, please use your flashers. This holds true for our monthly parent and board meetings also. The Massage School is open until 10:00 p.m. on Thursdays and requires half of the lot for their staff and clients.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Diabetes Walk News
The State College Walk raised approximately $22,000.00 for Diabetes research. Our team of students, families, and friends collected the third largest total dollar amount with $1245.00. Congratulations to our participants and thank you to all of you who supported their efforts.

Math Volunteers Needed
We have a big need for parent (or even grandparent) volunteers to help out during math classes. Math is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. every morning, although coming in even one morning a week would be helpful. (Expert math skills are not a necessity - we need volunteers in all levels of math!) Call M.J. in the office if you are interested.

Diane has been in contact with Frank Flarkey who was our after school music instructor last year. He is available to give instrumental music lessons on Monday afternoons if there is enough interest. If you would like more information about this, please contact Diane directly at diane@clccharter.org.

School Pictures & CLC Directory Update
School pictures will be taken by Jackie Aberegg, a professional photographer, during the week of November 13-17. A flyer with the specific day and the price list will be sent home in next Friday's mail folder. Also, we are close to having a CLC directory completed for parents and students. Hopefully, it will be finished before Thanksgiving break.

Snow Days
Not that I am anticipating snow any time soon, but I did want to remind you that we follow the State College School District's decision on school closings due to weather conditions. If State College is closed, we're closed. The closings are usually broadcast on the local radio stations and on Channel 4 on T.V. For Bellefonte, Bald Eagle and Penns Valley students, your transportation is dictated by the individual district's decision to close or start late/dismiss early. If Bald Eagle has a 2 hour delay, but State College is on time, your Bald Eagle bus will run on the Bald Eagle schedule, two hours late. If Penns Valley is open, but State College is closed, CLC will be closed. Does all of this make sense?
I'll send out another reminder once snow days look like a real possibility.

Cold Weather Clothing
A reminder to make sure your children are appropriately dressed for the cold weather when they leave the house in the morning. Also, please remember to write their name on the tag of their jackets, gloves, hats, etc. so that when these items are left behind in the big room (and, inevitably, they will be at some point this winter) they can be returned to your child.
