January Parent/Board Meetings
This month's parent meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 25, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Mark's classroom. Our monthly Board Meeting will start around 8:30. All community members are invited and encouraged to attend these meetings.

We're Going Bowling!
We had so much fun ice skating last month, that we have decided to plan another special activity for this transition week. On Friday, January 19, we are taking all of the students to Northland Bowl for the morning. CLC will cover the cost of shoe rentals and bowling. We will leave CLC at 10:30 a.m. and return at 12:30 for lunch. Please make sure you sign and return the (pink) permission slip before Friday morning (it should be in the envelope with this newsletter.)

Guest Speakers
As part of his independent project, Nathan A. (Team 1) has arranged for Jake Corman, State Senator and Kerry Benninghoff, State Rep., to speak to the student body about their respective jobs and their positions on the charter school movement. The guests will be here Friday, Jan. 19, from 1:00-2:30 in the "big room." You are welcome to join us.

Welcome New CLC Students & Families
John M., Jacob M., and Cory M. have recently joined our community. John and Jacob, both 5th graders, are in Team 4. John transferred from Bellefonte in December and Jacob came to us in January from Penns Valley. Cory is a 6th grader and the newest member of Team 3. He transferred from Bellefonte Middle School earlier this month. These three spaces were created by the leaving of Leah M. and Kayla L. from Team 4 and Tyler G. from Team 3 during the past month.

Fundraising Success!
We did it! Our challenge fundraising campaign has come to a successful conclusion. We raised just over the $1,000 target ($1,040 to be exact) so we received the entire matching contribution of $1,000. A grand total of $2,040!
These extra funds will help us enhance our existing programs. Because of your generosity, we can more easily afford an upcoming field trip, and funding for conference registration for our lead teachers. We are also able to purchase some materials to help improve access to our library's materials.
We wish to acknowledge those who helped us reach our goal. And especially our original anonymous donor &endash; your challenge of raising $1,000 not only has helped us financially, but the support it sparked (both monetary and the words of encouragement) is truly rewarding.

Office Move
Just wanted to let you know that M.J. and the school office are now located on the 2nd floor of the white building between Mark's and Josephine's classrooms. Ann Bolser and our business office have moved downstairs to the office off of the "big room." The phone numbers will remain the same. The main office (M.J.'s) number is 861-7980 and the business office (Ann's) number is 689-2477. Of course, you can still use email to reach us, too. (mj@clccharter.org and ann@clccharter.org)

New Spanish Teacher
Holly Sechler has begun the new year as our Spanish teacher on Thursdays. Holly has come to CLC from the Tyrone School District where she has been teaching Spanish for the past several years. The students seem very excited by Holly's curriculum plan and her fun and interesting activities.

Home iMacs
A reminder that if you are having any hardware problems with your CLC computer at home, you should take it to Keynet/Computerland in Bellefonte to have it repaired. All of our computers are under warranty and Keynet is our service provider. If the problem with the computer is with the software, please bring the computer in to our business office and let Ann (and your child's home team teacher) know the specific problem you are having with it. Keynet is located on Rt. 144 next to Capparella Furniture on the way to Milesburg. When you take it in, please let them know that you are from CLC. The phone number for Keynet is 357-9000 (ext. 18 - Drew).

Ski Club
Just a reminder that when we have off on a Monday during the winter, the ski club will make-up their day at Tussey on the Wednesday of that same week. The bus will pick them up at CLC at 2:40, just as usual.
