Morning Projects

Projects are the foundation of CLC’s curriculum, and this year we have several new projects in store for our team.  Each quarter there will be one main project that runs every weekday in the morning and occasional mini-projects as well.

Second Quarter

Greenergy

During the second quarter, our main project will focus on electricity and how it’s created.  We will explore various energy sources and ultimately create a large scale model that represents our vision for the future of energy production in the US.

Fourth Quarter

PSSAs

PSSAs will be taken at the beginning of our final quarter.  All students will take reading and math tests after spring break, while 8th graders will also take the writing and science assessments in April.

Zoo Awesome!

For our final project of the year, we will be creating our very own zoo!  We will explore the world and attempt to recreate ecosystems to support a variety of animals.

Escape from Lame Island
For our hands-on project, we will be constructing portable boats to escape from “Lame Island”.

First Quarter

We will start the year with a friendly school-wide competition.  This mini-project will force students to use their knowledge of buoyancy to construct a boat out of pasta that can hold the most weight possible.

Do It Yourself

This will be our main project for the first quarter. During this project, we will share our team’s talents and ultimately each student will learn a new practical skill and create a do-it-yourself video.

Third Quarter

World’s Fair Museum

The third quarter will feature an all-school museum.  Each team is tackling a separate time period for their museum, and our team will be exploring the late 1800’s and recreating the famous 1893 World’s Fair that was held in Chicago.
