Activities
1. Create a newspaper advertisement for Mr. Middleditch's photography studio.
2. Horace was finished with school at 14 and was ready to learn a trade as a professionals' apprentice. If you were living in that time period what profession would you pick? Create a diary of your adventure, starting from the time you leave your family.
3. Pegg told Horace that Eleanora did not die the way Mrs. Von Macht says; create a scene of what you think may have happened. Create the scene in a script to be videotaped and shared with the group.
4. Pretend you were hired by the author to title each chapter. What would you title each one and why. Make connections with the characters and their changes, the plot throughout the book. We will all submit titles and vote on the best one.
5. Write a chapter from the point of view of Pegg in chapter 11. What are her feelings about her life with the the Von Macht's her friendship with Horace.
6. In the Von Macht's home there is a heraldry of their family. Read the link on what heraldry/coat of arms is and create your own coat of arms on fireworks.
7. Chapter 38 is the climax of the book! Eleanora confronts Mrs. Von Macht for the final time. Create a flash of the action-packed scene.
