Mr. Middleditch was not the wealthy, society figure he led Horace's father to believe. HE was actually quite lazy and only wanted an apprentice so he could do less work. Since his business was not a thriving one, when the opportunity arouse, he came up with a plan to scam Mrs. Von Macht.

| May 17 | Read Chapter 5-6 | Each chapter that is read the students will complete a summary describing what happened in the chapter. It will include a picture/scene, introduce characters, discuss setting, plot, theme and add any thoughts they have about what they have read or what may happen next. |
| May 18/19 | History | Literature Jobs will be assigned to each group member to complete and submit to Deb. They will be compiled into a worksheet for all students to work on in class on Thursday and discuss on Friday. |
| May 20 | Chapter 7 | Students will work on literature packets- each submitted a part and will finish up mini-research project. |
| May 21 | Characters | Create an online biography for each character. We will add important information as we read. Continue research and literature circle worksheets. |
