Soldier's Heart

Soldier's Heart is about a fifteen-year-old Minnesota boy named Charley Goddard, who joins the Union Army to fight against the Confederates during the American Civil War. The story takes the reader through Charley's transformation from a boy, to a soldier, to a man. Charley faces many tough challenges during the Civil War. We'll learn about these challenges as we read and discuss the novel together.

"If it were left up to the men who did the killing and dying there would be no war."
- from Soldier's Heart
