What's the Difference:
accept - (verb)
to receive or to agree, to recognize as true: He accepted their praise graciously.
to give admittance or approval: The girls decided to accept her as one of the group.
to endure without protest or reaction: The prisoner decided to accept his poor living conditions.
to make a favorable response to: I decided to accept her offer to take care of my cat.
to assume an obligation to pay: I accepted the bill for dinner.
to take in payment: The waiter said that his restaurant does not accept personal checks.
except - (preposition)
all but, other than: Everyone went to the game except Alyson.
with the exclusion or exception of: The store is open daily except Sundays.
except (conjunction)on any other condition than that; unless: You will face punishment except if you repent.
with the following exception: The beach was inaccessible except by boat.
only (often followed by that): I would go to the Phillies game except that it's too far to walk there from my house.
except (transitive verb)To take or leave out (anything) from a number or a whole; to exclude; to omit: If we could except the bad calls by the referee, we would have won the game.
