Add Endings to "Silent E" Words
 The Rule:
Rule 1: If a word ends with a silent "e," drop the "e" before adding a suffix which begins with a vowel:
state--stating
like--liking

Rule 2: Do not drop the "e" when the suffix begins with a consonant:

state--statement
like--likeness
use--useful

Your Assignments:

1.Word List:
Write down 5 silent e root words that follow rule 1 and 5 silent e root words that follow rule 2. Add the suffixes to your root words.

3. Sentences:

Put each of your 'silent e' words with suffixes into grammatically correct sentences.

4. Spelling Test:

Use our spelling method to practice spelling your 10 words. Be ready for a test at the end of the week.

5. Turn in your work by Friday. Your packet should include your word list, sentences, and spelling test.
