CLCBS

Bringing you the news as it happens!

The Situation:

You are part of a small team of reporters for the Centre Learning Community Broadcast Service (CLCBS).

Upon arriving in the newsroom, your team is handed an assignment: a late breaking story had just come over the wire that needs to be included as part of the evening news. You go on air in one hour!

Your Task:

Your group is responsible for writting and delivering a short, consise account (under one minute) of the breaking news story to an audience of millions. Follow these steps to make it happen.

1. Read the wire report within your group.

2. Discuss the article and determine the five W's and what the important supporting facts are.

3. Organize the information on the Organizing Your Article sheet and write a rough draft of your lead.

4. Have the Lead Editor, Kelly, edit your lead and supporting information. Formalize your lead and supporting details.

5. Decide which parts each person is going to read (each group member must read a part). Practice reading your parts and making smooth transitions. Keep it under a minute.

*Remember that you only have an hour, so use your time wisely!
