Perhaps one of the reasons we are currently in a recession (or slowly climbing our way out of a recession), is because so many people do not understand the many different aspects of money and finance. According to USAToday, "US teenagers lack financial literacy." The article goes on to say "in a survey of 1,000 adults conducted last month for the Financial Services Forum, only 57% said they knew "quite a bit" or "a great deal" about managing their personal finances and retirement savings." One could argue that developing money management and personal finance skills should be a priority for all Americans regardless of age.

Over the next several weeks, IDA will be developing a number of financial education tools to be used in schools around the country. These tools will focus on a varity of topics.
