Chapter 2: Literature Review
In general, the literature review provides an overview that summarizes research similar to the research you are doing. It will also help you design your methodology.
Specific Requirements
You will need to review and provide summaries of at least three articles. You will need to provide the name of the author, the year of the research, and the title of the journal, magazine, book, or web site. See examples below, and refer to Mark's discussion for how to correctly report this information. Your summary of the research should highlight the results and discuss any interesting findings. Please use the research form below to organize your information.
Below is an example of Chapter 2.
The following is just an example. The articles are made up and the information may or may not be correct.
According to Palmer (1996), students who study while listening to music do not do as well on tests as students who do not listen to music while studying. Along these same lines, the web site learning.com states that listening to music can inhibit learning in a variety of ways. The site goes on to say that although some types of music seem to have less of an effect on learning, all types of music seem to have a negative impact of learning. Finally, memorylearning.com says that where music is concerned "the memorization of strings of numbers was negatively effected by the presence of music in the learning environment." The site goes on to say that students who listen to music while studying seem to score lower on achievement tests. |
Old Requirement appear Below
Below is an example of Chapter 2. You must support your
hypothesis with two online resources and two
articles from a journal, magazine, or newspaper. You may substitute
two books for the journal, magazine, or
newspaper articles. Keep in mind that later in the report you will be
required to provide the title, author, and date,
of the articles that you reference. You will also need to include the
title of the journal, magazine, or newspaper
in which the article appears. For web sites, you will need to provide
the title of the web site and the URL.
The following is just an example. The articles are made up and
the information may or may not
be correct.
