Sam's Vacation by Brittany
One day Sam got on a train. She was going on vacation to a place called Sorrow land. She was very exited and wanted to get their very fast. She planned to sit in the very first seat so she could be the first one off the train, but when she got to the top of the steps that led to train seats, she realized that all the seats were taken. All, that is but the very last one, next to the stinky old man with the cigar.
"Gross," Sam thought to herself as she sat down next to the man."I hope this is the worst thing that happens to me." Sam was right for the most part, but the real problem came when Sam got off the train at Sorrow land. The minute she got off the train a boy named Peacey asked her if she was the visitor. When she said yes, he took her to the house she would be staying at and told her to stay inside and be quiet. "Why?" Sam asked him.
"Because," Peacey replied quietly," the evil witch might hear you."
"Who is the evil witch?" Sam wondered. As if reading her thoughts, Peacey replied,
"Evil Witch Ying-Yang rules the town. She hates happiness and laughter and has the power to turn anyone or anything into stone. No one in this town is happy. You should not be either."
"But their is nothing to be sad about!" shouted Sam.
"Nor is their anything to be happy about," replied Peacey sadly. At that, he turned and shut the door leaving Sam standing shocked in the hallway. She had decided that something must be done at once.
"I've got an idea" said Sam. She and Peacey were walking down the road the next morning talking about things that came to their mind.
"An idea about what?" asked Peacey.
"About how to stop the evil witch, silly!" Sam replied. Sam looked at Peaceys face. It was very serious, with not a hint of excitement. "You dont get happy, do you?" She asked him. Peacey shook his head and looked up at what used to be cheery houses with pink, yellow, and blue roofs. Now all the paint was chipped and the buildings looked like they had not been cleaned in years.
"We used to be a happy , clean town with lots of festivals, parties and magic tricks. But all that changed when the witch came." Peaceys voice became harsh and deep. "She cast an evil spell of sadness over the town, and chased away anyone who would not be sad. Many of our people were turned to stone trying to save the town, everyone else has been sad ever since."
"Why, that"s terrible!" shouted Sam! "Something must be done about it and I think I have a plan!" Peacey shook his head.
"The evil witch cannot be stopped. I am sorry, but that is the way it is."
"Nonsense! I bet none of them tried to talk to her." Sam put her hands on her hips. Peacey shrugged his shoulders.
"Well everyone knew that would not work!" exclaimed Peacey.
"Who knows? It might!" She grabbed Peacey and started toward the witches house.
"Where are you taking me?" yelled Peacey.
"You will know when we get there." Sam shouted back.
When Sam and the very confused Peacey reached the evil witches house, Sam got very hungry. The house was made of gingerbread and looked very good.
"Do not eat it" warned Peacey. "It turns people into stone." Sam nodded and went inside. She had to duck to get inside. The doorway was very small.
"The witch must have trouble getting into the house." exclaimed Sam.
"Not that much," Peacey said."She is very very short."
"What did you say?" cackled the evil witch as she walked into the room. Peacey screamed and tried to hide behind Sam. Sam looked at the evil witch and laughed. The witch was about half her size and very fat. She was dressed in a long black and orange dress and a black pointy hat with orange dots and black and orange strings.
"Stop laughing!" The evil witch commanded but Sam could not stop. She kept on laughing until the evil witch started to melt!
"Stop laughing!" Peacey wailed.
"I can't!" said Sam in between giggles. "Its funny!" Sam laughed until the witch had melted into the ground. Then the house started to crumble.
"Lets get out of here!" yelled Peacey. They ran as hard and as fast as they could until they reached the doorway.
"That was close!" Sam said. Then something weird started happening to Peacey. It started out as a grin, but got bigger and bigger, until it was a huge smile!
"You're smiling!" cried Sam happily.
"What do you think," exclaimed Peacey "I'm happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
